On September 3, 1838 dressed in a sailor's uniform and carrying identification papers, future abolitionist Frederick Douglass boarded a train in Maryland on his way to freedom from slavery. On a fine spring day exactly 170 years later three mutinous individuals all bearing rather unusual surnames, large sunglasses and heavy coats unleashed a company called Shy the Sun. Driven by the same principles that inspired Federick Douglass, the founders of Shy the Sun made a pact in blood to revolutionize the world with strapping ideas, mind boggling imagery and a great soundtrack that accompanies the clicking spurs of their cowboy boots.
Now lets take a look at these three remarkably strange founding members. Upon meeting them you might ask yourself if they are indeed human. They are very rarely seen and some speculate that they don't even exist at all. Informants say that these pale skinned individuals always wear sunglasses despite the fact that they're never about at daytime. It is rumored that Nina's brain was replaced with a dual core pentium processor. It is also said that she had a phone implanted into her jaw. She never blinks. Ree on the other hand seems to be completely absent. Whenever you do get the chance to catch a glimpse of her, notice how she just stares out into nothingness. She has never been the same since her parole and now only communicates in 3rd person while cradling her favorite garden gnome. Jannes' erratic and illusive behaviour, his inabilty to construct a sentence that is not a riddle, his frantic full moon escapes to god knows where and his fetish for the sound of chalk on a blackboard could possibly explain why whips and chains are always kept close at hand.
Despite all their character flaws and their strange psycho-physical make up, it is exactly this disposition that enables them to tap into unknown dimensions, occasionally returning to impart their newfound perceptions to the world. |
